Some family history

This collection is currently (October 2019) under (re)development; it's likely that quite a few links will be broken. I started assembling it on my Plusnet filestore around 2011, but later moved it to my public filestore on Dropbox. Then, in 2017, Dropbox withdrew the public filestore facility. So now, after some delay(!), I'm bringing the material now back to my Plusnet filestore.

I didn't think I was particularly interested in family history, but finding my father's ^[1] memoir (the first document below) prompted me to start assembling this collection.

		This is a combination of a personal memoir and a history of part of the Bremner family, written by my father [1] in 1977. He was prompted, in part, by a wish to expand on information in the history of the descendants of George Henderson written by Dave Carr [2], his second cousin who lived in London, Ontario.
		You will see that the margins are somewhat ungenerous. Maybe there was a paper shortage on Mull at the time!
		This seems to be a sheet of notes compiled in preparation for writing the above document.
		An account, written by my mother, of her early childhood. This is the final version, written out in a hardbound notebook.
		An earlier version of the above document. It contains additional material, some of which I have been unable to decipher.
		A note about my paternal grandfather, Matthew Allison Bremner [3], written by my mother. This mentions my father's elder brother, born before his parents were married and given up for adoption.
		A photograph of William Alexander Linning (my father's ‘lost’ brother). Some time after writing the note above my mother was able to find out a little about him and trace his daughters.

Next two family trees, found with my father's document.

		This is, I think, a tree prepared by Dave Carr in the process of working on his book.
		This seems to be someone else's work. It doesn't deal with the Henderson family, but explores the family of my great-grandfather's wife: it seems that one of her sisters had a son called (at birth?) Sir David Mason, and a daughter who married Sir Matthew Montgomery. There's posh for you!

		This is, I think, a letter from Matthew Allison Bremner to an uncle in Canada.
		Report of Special Investigating Committee. I haven't been able to discover what organisation set up this committee, or who the James Bremner signing the report was. He may have been the James Bremner born in Aberchirder/Foggieloan in 1805 who appears on the left of the family trees.

While I was assembling these documents for the Web, Google found me a couple of documents from the website of John Brebner, who has been working since 1993 on the assembly of a vast amount of information on the genealogies of Brebners and Bremners worldwide.

There are several errors and omissions: for example, it seems that my father was a (the?) Minister of Rutherglen; my second cousin Douglas does not appear; and Judy and I are, somewhat unusually, not the only parents of David (my other second cousin Alan and his wife share that rôle).
